Ventilation System Design

Commercial Kitchen Ventilation Designer.

There are regulations and things you should be aware of when looking for a ventilation system designer;

There are many ventilation system companies to chose from, search for ventilation systems in google and you will find companies showing up in the natural searches and many sponsored ads.

A commercial kitchen canopy must be fitted above all of the cooking equipment as stated in DW172 and BS6173. Kitchen extractor hoods must overhang the cooking equipment by 250mm to either side and to the front of the cooking equipment.

To comply with current gas regulations and BS6173 a gas safety interlock system must be fitted in the kitchen.


To comply with current gas regulations, a dedicated fresh air system must be fitted to replace 85% of the extraction air.
For a kitchen with gas cooking appliances you need;

Catering areas must be ventilated to provide sufficient air for combustion and the removal of combustion products and steam etc with a commercial kitchen ventilation system.
